The words “crazy busy” would be an understatement to describe this weekend’s auditions in Toronto. A lot of Gillette Drafted hopefuls showed up to show us their stuff. We had some interesting talent come out to talk about a lot of issues in sports. Thanks to everyone that came out! Next weekend we’ll be in Calgary at the Market Mall. As we close the door on the Gillette DRAFTED Halifax auditions, we’d like to introduce a new feature on the blog: “The Do’s and Don’ts of Sports Broadcasting”. Here, we shall highlight the good and bad in sports coverage.
The first example of what NOT to do dates back to 1994 when former NFL quarterback Jim Everett visited sports talk show Talk2, hosted by Jim Rome. Everett was known to shy away from getting tackled, often falling to the ground before a sack occurred. Rome repeatedly referred to Jim as “Chris” (a reference to female tennis player Chris Evert). Jim wasn’t having any of it, and here is what happened:
Sports broadcasting lesson: Never disrespect a guest of the show. And if a 6-foot-5 athlete tells you to stop doing something, stop doing it. If you feel you could’ve handled this situation better than Jim Rome, be sure to audition for this season of Gillette Drafted. Here are some upcoming locations we’ll be auditioning from:

Great news everyone! We are back for the 4th season of Gillette Drafted. This season will be different; there’ll be a lot more social media integration. Contestants on the show will tweet, post, and discuss their experiences in real-time on a number of social platforms.
