PPOD compilation
It’s the last day of auditions on the blog so I thought it would be fun to post a compilation of Paul’s Picks of the Day. It’s a huge honour for Paul to pick somebody as his choice for that day and it will be interesting to see if any of Paul’s choices make the cut for the Top 10. Of course, you can check back on Monday to see if any of them made it.
Enjoy these and enjoy your weekend before the big announcement!

Dear “The Score!” Thanks for putting on this competition! Giving us regular joes an opportunity for our 15 min of fame is great! Also, please, please put the competition on again next year! It’s great exposure for Gillette and I’m now an exclusive score watcher (I used to drift between TSN and the score). A lot of my friends in Scotland, England, Taiwan and China are also now big fans of the score as a result of me inviting them on to see the videos (You went global baby!). I visit the website everyday because it informs me about sports whilst being humorous at the same time! I’ve got a great video planned for next year if I don’t make it this year!! So please put this competition on again next year and the year after that and the year after…..!!
Thanks again Score!

craigballard77.blogspot.com still does not mention if he is in the Top Ten and sadly I will miss the July 19 announcement of the Top Ten but good luck to Craig Ballard and all the people out here with skills to pay the bills…

The score BIAS continues with FIVE of the contestents being from Ontario .. what a surprise seeing that EVERYONE on the show is also from Ontario except the two guys from England …. and to make matters worse, many of the choices were pretty weak .. there were a couple of decent ones though … here’s the breakdown …
1. Andrew Gould … Lame and too feminine to be a sportscaster. His tape was entertaining .. but this isn’t about being an entertaining CLOWN … this is about being a sportscaster. Sorry .. and he laid an egg for the questions as well.
2. Austin Spencer .. should have been JACKASS and not jacked up. Ok audition .. but horrid answering questions .. and waaay too into himself and his own body. This was the best all of Vancouver had to offer? I find that very hard to believe … stick to wresting man.
3. Brent Furtney .. if i wanted to watch WILL FARREL i’d put one his movies on … nice impersonation .. but in the end just a gimmick which makes this choice a JOKE. And he was abysmal for the questions as well.
4. Kacie … pathetic audition … but one of the best, if not the best in the questions portion. Deff potential on this one with sharp answers and great pressence.
5. Kareem … this pick was a waste. He’s basically an Usher re-tread who has NO CLUE on how to answer the questions .. particularly on how to end a baseball game with the least drama … WALK IN THE WINNING RUN in the 1st inning .. hello .. what was with this pick .. seriously? Questons and audition was by far the worst .. i guess being a decent wrapper re-tread was the only redeeming thing here … wrong show.
6. Launcy Schartz .. the audition tape was decent, but it’s a shame all you did was prove you had connections rather than show you could actually interview one of those guys you were lucky enough to get a mic in front of. Seems like you already are a sportscaster, so not sure why they picked you … … lose the hat and the helmet gimmick … overall still not bad .. but i’m still not sure if I can get past the fact that your voice is a carbon copy of the character BOOGER from the movie ‘Risky Business’ and that u seem to be a walking cliche … other that that though …
7. Meghan Morrison … another very poor audition … but strong overall in the questions … maybe a bit too over-confident though but deff potential here. Funny how both girls bombed the audition … but still made it on the show only to have the stronger performances for the questions.
8. Philip Perkins … too cheezy … lame audition and poor at answering the questions as well … and as far as leaving the $100 .. i fully call you on that … you know full well you’d pick it up .. look around and see if it belonged to anyone .. and if there was no apparent owner to it .. it would be fair game to take .. all that crap about Karma was complete BS and you know it.
9. Rick Tirelli … a bit of a fast talker during the audition .. chaulk it up to nerves … overall a pretty good job … and very good on the questions as well. Seemed like the most sincere contestant on the show … knows his sports … one of the front runners at this point unless people voting are just looking for clowns and not true talent.
10. Sean F. …. pretty poor auditon .. how on earth did that land you on the show? Rebounded nicely on the questions portions … but in the end, not enough personality to carry the day. Pick it up a bit.
Overall .. very disappointing bunch …. hopefully one of the few with REAL SPORTCASTER talent survives and the BOZOS with gimmicks and garbage get voted off quickly.
Keepin it rea,

Noticed they closed comments on the finalist page…clearly based on the overwhelming disapproval of the finalist picks, which was completely warranted. Finalist selection was clearly based on political correctness and having a diverse collection of people rather then choosing those who actually deserved to be on the show based on the videos. You’ll probably end up with another Paul Brothers….didn’t that work out well?

Dave! Thanks for your comments! I thought I was on crazy pills when I saw the selections. Political correctness is unfortunately the pick of the day! Canada is ever changing and in the scores defense, they need to pick outside the circle of talent in order to open up new markets. It’s kind of ironic how they are being unfair to try to prove that they are fair!! The score producers managed to accomplish their mission though! Not one blog about unfair misrepresentation. Also, they managed to get 3 candidates with actual potential. Brent Furtney, Rick Tirelli and the Shwartz.
One more thing… what the hell was that Kareem pick about?? In keeping with the score’s “fairness” mantra, there were other African Canadians (I believe that’s the preferred nomenclature??) that were way more talented!
